Spring Break Reading

I found this in my drafts!!

......

Hello! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been busy with school. Oh and I moved again! It has been a crazy year for me.

Well, anyways this spring break I am reading a collection of books about or relating to US History.

Well, except for one. I caved and got that one too. I put them in chronological order from the right to the left. They are all good books and I recommend them to all of you.

I'll describe some of them to you!!!

The Black Pearl (Scott O'Dell)-- Is a book about the coming of age of a son of a peal dealer in the Baja Peninsula. ( I read this was first because it was short and I could read it in one night [and I did])

The Witch of Blackbird Pond (Elizabeth George Speare)-- This book is set in the late 17th century of colonial Connecticut. It is about the life of Katherine(Kit) Tyler when her grandfather dies and she is forced to go to her aunt and uncle without telling them first.

Johnny Tremain (Esther Forbes)-- This book is set in Revolutionary America. You see revolutionary Boston through the eyes of Johnny Tremain.

Streams to the River, River to the Sea(Scott O'Dell)- This book is set during the westward expansion. You follow Sacajawea around as she lives her life. It gives you insight on not only the Natives' lives but the explorers' as well.

Island of the Blue Dolphins(Scott O'Dell)-This book is a classic. You follow a young girl as she is stranded on a island near the Californian coast.
****This summer we are going to try and go and see her grave side !

All these books were amazing!! Sadly I didn't get to read The Six because someone else had a hold on it in the library.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is an awesome movie. The movie goes through the origin story of Wonder Woman. The movie is a truly empowering movie especially of/for women. The movie is set during World War 2.

I'm trying really hard not to spoil the movie. There are some definite twists in the plot. You find yourself engaged in the movie even though you know the good guy/girl always wins. It is an overall great movie as well as theatre experience. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Sparkle out!

Ps. Wonder Woman's Armor sparkles as she fights

My Dad is Awesome!!!!

Dads are amazing! I know that I didn't do a father's day post on Father's Day, but I wanted to spend the entire day with my dad. While I'm talking about Father's Day, I made breakfast for my dad and my family. Then we snuggled on the couch and watched him play videogames. Then we watched part of his favorite movie. After that we went and watched Wonder Woman(comment below if you want a post about the movie) in the theatre. Then we went to a sushi linner(lunch for dinner). Then we went to Barnes and Noble and then to a twilight round of miniature golf. We had a really fun day!

Anyways, he is leaving for a couple of days for a business trip, so I wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. So last night after dinner, my dad needed to run some errands for his trip and I went with him. We went to a couple stores for the various things we needed to get. We walk in to the grocery store to get travel soap, deodorant, etc... Then just because we could, we walked to the ice cream section(why not).

Background!!!
So I have my all time favorite ice cream. It is the Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Buns ice cream. For years (YEARS!!!) I could not find it anywhere. Every time I go to a grocery store, I go to the ice cream section and look for it.

Continuing....

I tell my dad that I always look for my favorite ice cream and it is never there!! He asks what flavor and I describe it. He scans the ice cream reading the labels out loud.
"Cinnamon Buns" he asks
"What?!" I reply.
He found it!!! I couldn't believe it and still can't believe it! He found the ice cream that I had been searching years for. It was never in stores and it so happened that the day I was at the store with my father that he happened to find it!! He is truly amazing!!

That is why among others reasons that my dad is the best in the world.

P.S If your ice cream gets super cold in the freezer, the ice on the outside can seem like it is sparkling!!

Dorothy Must Die series

Dorothy Must Die
By: Danielle Paige

I just finished the fourth book of the Dorothy Must Die series. The series is overall amazing. Danielle Paige, author of the Dorothy Must Die series, incorporated the original Oz characters from Frank Baum's books(Wizard of Oz volumes). There are also multiple prequel novellas about the many characters portrayed in the Dorothy Must Die series and how Oz came to be so twisted.

Paige provides a twist to the classic Oz. The story takes place in the present as you follow Amy Gumm, protagonist, as she embarks on her journey in the twisted Oz and other classic places where she finds herself and her purpose in Oz's future through out the books.

I wish I could tell you more, but I wouldn't dare spoil the plot.

I love rock climbing!!!!!!!

Today, I went rock climbing after school. It was a twenty-five foot wall. I did all the levels. I had sooooooooooooooo much fun. Some of the holds weren't as strong or reliable as the walls edges.  It was a belaying system, so the girl made sure I didn't fall off. What are some of your guys favorite things to do after school or some main event that you sparkle at??

Sparkle on !!!!

Wow! Really!!

Ok. So one of the things you may or may not know about me is that I play the fiddle. Specifically Irish tunes that is if you to get into technicality.

Well anyways I was sitting and playing with a group of people who are way older than me. There are two women sitting across from me who are watching and talking about me( the amazing Sparkle). Near the end of the session one of the ladies walks over and is like "You are so talented young lady. Don't let anyone tell you anything short of that.". Then she thrusts $2 into my hand and whispers into my ear " Keep it to yourself ". I was like "Wow, Thank you so much!". I was so surprised. I went to have fun and turns out I sparkled and it surely showed.

Keep on Sparkling!!

Round Table Pizza

One of my mom's most favorite place to eat is Round Table Pizza. It truly is an amazing pizzeria with a salad bar. Today we got a classic pepperoni and a Maui Zaui which is like a hawaiian plus pizza.  The kids cups even have jokes on them.

I swear if you haven't been to Round Table, then when you try it you'll see why it sparkles so much

Grumble. Grumble. Well I'm sorry to have to go, but the hunger calls.
Sparkle On!!!

The Lunar Chronicles

I just finished book four of the Lunar Chronicles, and I was so impressed. The Lunar Chronicles, by Marissa Meyer, are a futuristic science fiction take on fairy tales. The books are based on the main characters of the fairytales of Cinderella( Cinder ), RedRiding Hood( Scarlet ), Rapunzel( Cress ), and  Snow White ( Winter ). The books go in order. They start with Cinder. Then it goes from Scarlet, to Cress, and then it ends(           ( : ( ) sadly ) with Winter.  There are also companion books. One is called Fairest which is about Queen Levana( the antagonist ), and then the other is a collection of short stories that go along with the books called Stars Above. Luna may sparkle on the outside, but not on the inside. Luna is a colony of "special" people on the moon. Marissa does an amazing job of connecting all the stories together and talking about the new character with the main characters doing something else at the "same time". That is about all I can tell you about the books beside that they are  amazing, awesome, and a must read in my book, before I spoil the whole series. Here are some pictures of the covers before I go:

Thanks a lot to everyone who spent the time to read all of this. I hope you enjoy the series like I did.
